Institutions Selling Institutions: We exist in a world dominated by institutions; our culture, politics, and paradigms are intertwined with the fabric of these systems, ideologies, and "places." According to Stanford's Encyclopedia, institutions are "structures or mechanisms of social order and cooperation governing the behavior of a set of individuals within a given human community. Institutions are identified with a social purpose and permanence, transcending individual human lives and intention by enforcing rules that governs cooperative human behavior."
