Non-Sustainable Monuments: Non-Sustainable Monuments is an ongoing series of sculptural interventions installed at various locations in the United States (adjacent photos from Phoenix and surrounding neighborhoods). Modeled after contemporary "plop-art" aesthetics, these sculptures are wholly fabricated with non-sustainable materials, most notably comprised of Styrofoam, wire, and Compact Fluorescent and Incandescent bulbs. Anti-Art Junk! Said sculptures are dropped into targeted locations and exist indefinitely as public art installations. Viva La Mercury! Pieces include galvanized wire and Styrofoam ball flower beds, Styrofoam and lightbulb monoliths, and Styrofoam and plastic bag totem poles; pieces are often left in the "natural" environment -- an overt juxtaposition that questions society's consumption and energy practices.
