Self-Portrait of the Artist: SPOA is a video sculpture. That's all it is, really. A 4 feet tall video boy sans genitals. Built with a mannequin, a mini DVD display for a face, and a black box as its head. The display screen showcases a looping stop motion video of my "real" countenance rotating above a 2-dimensional Mars. Why Mars? Why not Mars? The duration of the animation is 2m48s, the average time for male climax (that can't be true, can it?). The SPOA video sculpture piece was exhibited at the Harry Wood Gallery and at the exhibition "Artists and Academics United for Change" at Arizona State University where the artist was also invited to speak on the panel: Representations of Life through Visual Culture. Adjacent image depicts the video sculpture as installed in a 2009 exhibition.
