| Value(s): Value(s) functioned as a sociological art experiment and conceptually driven mixed media installation and was exhibited on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. The piece, installed in the artist's studio, was comprised of one $20.00 bill marked with the text "value" on its back. Another pedestal was positioned next to the marked currency and held a stack of forms listing detailed instructions for the 10 invited participants to adhere to while in the space. The piece, functioning as an informal research game or social science experiment, examined a range of issues including those related to social and group dynamics and norms, value emphasis systems, economic and financial worth, collective hierarchies, and behavioral and psychological paradigms. Later iterations of the project have been executed in other public forums and gallery contexts. |
